Jembisa Bush Home is a small, but stylish lodge situated in the malaria-free, private Palala River Reserve, within the Waterberg region of the Limpopo Province. The Lodge is easily accessible - approximately a three hour drive from Johannesburg, and half an hour by air.
The Bush Home caters for a variety of experiences and offers a wide range of wildlife and safari activities to suit all ages and interests. The lodge is a genuine bush home and is perfect for family safaris or small groups of friends looking to experience true African hospitality together with both unique and diverse wildlife experiences. The lodge is ideally placed for short safari breaks.

The Bush Home is situated above the Palala River, in beautiful wilderness surrounded by the Waterberg’s mountainous scenery. Originally built as a family home – the owners still own and run the reserve and the home has retained a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Built from local stone and thatch, the lodge has a sense of harmony with its surroundings. There are five spacious en-suite bedrooms which are decorated with natural materials reflecting a contemporary yet colonial style. There is a separate bunkroom for children allowing both adults and children some independence from each other. Cots are available on request. There is also the option to spend a fun and adventurous night, camping out under the stars in a tent.
Meals at The Bush Home are an occasion and can be enjoyed in a wide variety of locations – bush brunches, breakfasts on the verandah, luxury picnic lunches, dinner under the stars or camp fire suppers. The chef’s delight in creating meals that are international but with a local twist
There is a variety of activities for visitors to choose from – which include relaxing or being more active – swimming in the natural saltwater pool, enjoying a massage on the sundeck, playing tennis on the floodlit court, visiting bushman rock art nearby, archaeological sites or cultural villages, tracking rhino on a bush walk or enjoying a traditional game drive in an open landrover. The reserve is home to rhino, zebra, giraffe, leopard, hyena, hippo and crocodile, civet cats, aardvark and porcupines, as well as a wide variety of plant and bird life. Other activities in the area include horse riding, elephant-back safaris, star gazing evenings, fishing, mountain biking, curio shopping and helicopter flights
