Kingfisher Lodge is a 3 bedroom farmhouse, set in a garden with a swimming pool and braai area. There are two en-suite rondawels in the garden, creating a total of 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Located on the banks of the Palala River, Kingfisher Lodge offers open views across the hills. The sitting and dining areas are open plan and offer a fireplace for the winter months. Guests may see and hear a variety of wildlife from the lodge and garden. Kingfisher Lodge is perfect for families or small groups and boasts a bird hide, on the edge of the Palala River - only a short distance from the cottage.
Podica Bush Camp consists of three traditional rondawels, each with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, outdoor shower and veranda. Podica is located about 500 metres upstream from Kingfisher Lodge on the opposite bank of the river. Set in riverine bush, Podica is right ‘in the bush’ and wildlife often wanders through the camp. There is a small hide set in the bush behind the camp and the area around the river is excellent for birding. Each rondawel benefits from a hammock and private outdoor braai area. The camp can be booked out by a private family or party or each rondawel can be booked separately. Guests can arrange guided game drives and bush walks or enjoy self drive game viewing in the reserve. Massages can also be arranged and enjoyed in the privacy of the rondawels.
River Cottage is a romantic and secluded stone and thatch cottage located on the banks of the Palala River. This lodge offers a perfect combination of stylish comfort and excellent facilities from where to explore the natural beauty of the area. River Cottage is perfect for couples and offers a single bedroom with a draped mosquito net, sunken bathroom, spacious sitting room and open plan kitchen. The shady veranda with a hammock offers great game viewing and relaxation opportunities and the braai area is idyllically set on the river bank. Guests can arrange guided game drives and walks or enjoy self drive game viewing in the reserve.
The Reserve is home to a broad range of plants, animals and birds and there are numerous other activities in the reserve and surrounding area including morning, afternoon and evening game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, guided bush walks, bird watching, fishing, swimming, mountain biking, star gazing evenings and visits to archaeological sites and bushman paintings.
Although not a Big Five Game Reserve, Jembisa does offer visitors excellent opportunities to experience the African bush in a deeper, wider way with a host of different and unusual activities available.
